About Shiranui
Shiranui is one of the best known of the modern Japanese tangors. It combines a high sugar content, balanced acidity at maturity, tender flesh and a skin that comes away relatively easily. The neck at the top of the fruit is characteristic, though how pronounced it is varies with growing conditions.
Our observations at the nursery
In our conditions, Shiranui comes to maturity in December. We find the fruit excellent and observe very good hardiness.
Shiranui or another variety?
Shiranui and Harumi share the same Kiyomi × Ponkan ancestry. Shiranui is sought above all for its high sugar content and its distinctive necked fruit. To go further, see our Japanese citrus category.
