About Satsuma Owari FS
Owari is one of the benchmark satsumas. The fruit peels easily, is juicy and pleasant to eat fresh. It ripens after the very early satsumas such as Iwasaki or Okitsu, which helps spread the harvest. Like the other satsumas, it is especially useful wherever you want a good-quality mandarin with more cold resistance than most classic mandarins offer.
Our observations at the nursery
At the nursery, Owari FS comes to maturity from November to December. We observe good cold resistance. The fruit peels easily and is free of seeds.
Satsuma Owari FS or another variety?
Owari is a main-season satsuma. For an earlier harvest, Okitsu makes an excellent alternative. To go further, see our Satsuma category.
