About Wekiwa Tangelolo
Wekiwa was raised in the United States in the early twentieth century. Botanically it is a tangelolo: a hybrid of pomelo and tangelo. The fruit is valued for its tender, juicy flesh, its balance of sugar and acid, and the pink tints that can appear in good conditions. It ripens relatively early for a citrus of this group.
Our observations at the nursery
In our conditions, Wekiwa comes to maturity in December. We find the fruit excellent when fully ripe. Its hardiness strikes us as moderate.
Wekiwa Tangelolo or another variety?
