About Thomasville

Thomasville is among the best known of the citrangequats. Raised by Walter T. Swingle, it brings together the hardiness of the citrange with certain qualities of the kumquat. The fruit can be used while still green as a substitute for lemon or lime, and grows milder as it ripens. It is a benchmark variety for anyone growing hardy citrus.

Thomasville or another variety?

Thomasville is hardier than most of the classic acidic citrus, and gives a fruit far more usable than that of many very hardy hybrids. To go further, see our Citrus hybrids category.
