About Harumi

Harumi combines Kiyomi and Ponkan in sweet, juicy, easy-peeling fruit. Developed in Japan from the Kiyomi tangor and a Ponkan, it belongs to the modern Japanese citrus selected for high eating quality. Its tender flesh and a skin that comes away easily make it an appealing choice for lovers of Japanese eating citrus; it ripens in winter.

Our observations at the nursery

In our conditions, Harumi comes to maturity in December. We find the fruit excellent when fully ripe.

Harumi or another variety?

Harumi and Shiranui share Kiyomi and Ponkan in their ancestry. Harumi generally gives fruit closer to a large mandarin, while Shiranui is known for its characteristic neck and its very high sugar content. To go further, see our Japanese citrus category.
