Greffeur d’agrumes is a nursery specialising in grafted citrus plants, and keeper of a collection of more than 200 varieties. It is located in Lavernose-Lacasse, south of Toulouse, in the Haute-Garonne department of south-west France. Behind the website are two people: Laurent, grafter and nurseryman, who founded the nursery, and Coralie, who looks after your orders.

Our story

Greffeur d’agrumes is first of all Laurent Lévy’s craft: grafting citrus trees, growing them on and helping people discover them. Laurent started grafting at the age of 16, out of curiosity.

Today the nursery keeps a collection of more than 200 varieties: satsumas, mandarins and clementines, oranges, grapefruit, lemons, kumquats, Japanese, blood, variegated and Australian citrus, and the rootstocks that carry them. It grew out of Laurent’s private collection; the nursery opened in spring 2023.

The nursery, the registered office and the dispatch point are all in one place: 8 impasse du Riou, Lavernose-Lacasse (see our legal notice). It has been based in Lavernose-Lacasse since 2023.

Our method: one variety, several rootstocks

There is no perfect rootstock: each one has its strengths and limits with frost, lime, clay, wet or dry ground. That is why we graft our varieties onto different rootstocks, Poncirus trifoliata, FA5, citrumelo 4475 and citrange C35, and each product page shows which ones are offered, with the pot size. You choose the combination that suits your garden.

To help you, Laurent has written a full guide, Choosing a citrus rootstock, based on our trials south of Toulouse on clay-limestone soil, and we have built a free tool, Which rootstock should you choose?, which ranks rootstocks according to your frost, your soil and the citrus you want.

Every plant is grafted at the nursery, then grown on in our tunnels and outdoors until it leaves: you receive a young tree grafted this year, 80 cm to 1 m tall including the pot (see The plant you will receive).

Plants we keep a close eye on

  • Our mother plants are tested regularly for citrus tristeza virus.
  • Our citrus trees are grown with products approved for organic farming; the nursery is in its final year of conversion to organic farming, inspected by ECOCERT (FR-BIO-01).
  • The hardiness given on each product page is reviewed every year from our own observations (see Understanding citrus hardiness).
  • Professional plant operator number: FR-0110126V.
